How can I apply to live in Harambee House?
Applying to live in Harambee is very simple. Just fill out our Google Form which comes out in the Spring. After submitting the form, House Leadership will contact you to fill out a Bid Card to confirm your spot.
During the early portion of Spring Semester, the house offers several programs for perspective members to learn more about Harambee House. Though these events are not mandatory, they pose an excellent opportunity for you to meet current members and become involved in Harambee's community. Please check out our Calendar for more details.

What if I am applying to be an RPL?
No Worries! If you are applying to be an RPL you can still APPLY to live in Harambee and sign a Bid Card.
If you are accepted into the RPL program and decide to become an RPL, then your Bid Card will be withdrawn. If you are not accepted to the RPL program, and have signed a Bid Card, then you are committed to living in Harambee for the upcoming school year.

Can I live in Harambee if I do not identify as Black?
Yes! Harambee House greatly values allyship and community. Though centered around Black culture, we welcome members of all races and ethnicities.

Are there any requirements to live in Harambee House?
To join Harambee House you must be entering at minimum your 3rd semester at Brown. Once a member there is a $40 fee due at the beginning of each semester that covers the cost of keys that access the common spaces, party admissions, house dinners and other house activities.

How does the in-house lottery work?
The in-house lottery is very simple. For more information come to our information session in the Spring.

Can I live in Harambee if I'm going abroad?
You can! The process is different regarding which semester you plan to be abroad, however. People going abroad in the fall will apply for Harambee when returning in the spring and will be allotted rooms vacated by members of the house of of the surrounding independent community. Those going abroad in the spring will simply apply during spring recruitment of the year prior to their abroad year.
